Along the Dnipro

2024

"Along the Dnipro" is a photography project dedicated to exploring various segments of Ukraine’s population during Russia’s full-scale invasion. The project's goal is to depict the lives of people of different ages and social backgrounds in the challenging conditions of martial law, with a particular focus on youth, freedom, and interpersonal relationships.

The project documents diverse stories, emotions, and interactions of people representing different professions and social statuses. It highlights both everyday life and extraordinary moments, including reactions to various restrictions, the loss of loved ones, the reevaluation of values, and the struggle to preserve personal freedom and dignity.

This project not only draws attention to significant aspects of Ukrainian daily life but also serves as a testament to a period of great trials and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.

It stands as a legacy to be passed on to future generations, reminding them of how extraordinary circumstances can forever change each of our lives.

The paradox of this project lies in its ability to transform an ordinary album of freedom into an emotional mosaic of experiences. The lives of Ukrainians were suddenly divided into "before" and "after" the invasion, creating a profound contrast between the past and the present.

"Along the Dnipro" also has an educational dimension, prompting viewers to reflect on the cost of freedom and the shadowed experiences of war. It underscores the importance of cherishing communication and connections with loved ones, as these relationships become a source of support in times of hardship. This project is a testimony to the greatness of the human spirit in the face of adversity, reminding us that even in the darkest times, humanity and solidarity can be sources of strength and hope.
